Eusébio's coffin at the Luz

The Portuguese parliamentary paid homage to Eusébio da Silva Ferreira and unanimously agreed that his resting place should be at the Portugal's National Pantheon in Lisbon, at the Santa Engrácia church.

Sport Lisboa e Benfica congratulated this move as the prestige that Eusébio had brought to club and country fully deserved this recognition.

Eusébio will rest alongside former presidents, writers and fado singer Amália Rodrigues.

Samaris praises squad's team spirit

Despite being out of European competitions and the Portuguese Cup, Benfica still have their main objective in sight to retain.

Andreas Samaris welcomed the good run in both league and league cup by praising the team spirit outside the pitch.

"Benfica's force comes from that. We are a family of friends."

"The youngest in the group can joke with the oldest and vice versa. This is very important."

The Greek midfielder who joined the Lisbon side from Olympiakos in the summer was speaking to Benfica TV in the 'Alta Fidelidade' show.

Júlio César vows to come back stronger

Benfica's first choice keeper suffered a leg injury during the win against Boavista on Saturday 31st January.

Júlio César has expressed his desire to return stronger in an injury that will see him sidelined at least until March.

"I'm with my colleague João Silveira en route to Seixal for more treatment. Hope to come back stronger than before! Focused and determined."

The ex-Inter Milan shot stopper joined Benfica this summer after stints in QPR and Toronto FC. Júlio is Brazil's former number one keeper and has lifted the Champions League with the Italian club.

Referee to decide ticket price

Benfica has opted for a bizarre marketing campaign where the referee will indirectly decide the price of a ticket for an upcoming Benfica match at the Luz.

The game in question is Benfica x Boavista this Saturday 31st January, where the amount of injury time given will equate to the price of a ticket in Euros for the following home game when Benfica receive Setúbal.

The conditions are that it only applies to members who are between 13 and 25 years of age and will be limited to the first 24 hours, solely for the 3rd tier on the Coca Cola stand.

Miklos Fehér: Forever 29

It's 11 years since Benfica forward Miklos Fehér passed away and left eternal memories for his colleagues, Benfica supporters and football fans across the world.

Rúben Amorim close to comeback

Rúben Amorim is expected to make his comeback in the near future as he began training with the squad a couple of day ago without any limitations.

Portuguese paper A Bola report that the Portuguese midfielder is close to his best and will be available for Jorge Jesus as early as next week.

Amorim suffered a serious ligament injury on 25th August against Boavista and has been sidelined since then. Benfica's «number 6» missed the first half of the season after undergoing surgery.

Silvio returns after 8 month absence

Benfica's left-back Silvio is now available for manager Jorge Jesus after 8 months of hardship on the sidelines.

The Portuguese international was named on the squad list in December for the Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen and more recently last week against Penafiel for the Liga game.

The 27 year-old is on loan from Atlético de Madrid since 2013, who allowed him to continue at the Lisbon side after sustaining the long term injury, fracturing both the fibula and tibia on his right leg.

Jesus renewal talks for end of season

Portuguese daily sports paper interviewed Benfica's president Luís Felipe Vieira where he stated the manager's renewal talks will only happen once the season is over.

"Before this season began I said that Jorge Jesus could renew now, maintaining his current contractual conditions. He didn't think it was the right time so I had to respect that, and therefore we will bring this up again at the end of the season, like we always have done. There is no taboo here."

Eusébio to be honoured against Guimarães

One year on, after Benfica's most legendary player and the man who we call 'the King' passed away, the club will honour his life at the match against Guimarães on Saturday 10th January.

Eusébio da Silva Ferreira was also mentioned on FIFA's obituary article humbly titled "Gone but not Forgotten":

Pedro Mantorras' 2014 summary

Ex-Benfica striker Pedro Mantorras, who now represents the club in its international relations department, gave his 2014 views on Benfica TV.

"We are going through a bad moment, we have many injuries and the squad has been limited. This Christmas break will be important to recover some players."

Before signing for the 'eagles' nearly 15 years ago and helping them to win the 2004/05 title, Mantorras was the star player at the now defunct club Alverca.
