FIFA's announcement to end third party ownership from May 1st 2015 will force changes for Portuguese clubs, especially Benfica.
Benfica began liquidating the Benfica Stars Fund which legally owned a handful amount of players that featured in the first team. The club anticipated FIFA's move and brought the fund to an end by buying all player rights in tranches, which included the likes of Maxi Pereira, Gaitán and Ruben Amorim.

Board members from Brazilian heavyweights Flamengo, including president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, visited Benfica's Luz stadium this Thursday morning.
Ex-Benfica striker Nuno Gomes was in duty to receive Flamengo in their bid to link synergies and to view the general facilities and business model of the Lisbon club.

Benfica SAD published a statement via the Portuguese Securities Market Commission "CMVM" (Comissão do Mercado de Valores) of having registered a net income of EUR 746,000 in the first three months of the present season (1 July to 30 September).
