Rui Vitória has opted for a blend of youth and experience in his squad to face third tier Vianense in the third round of the Taça de Portugal on Friday. The Benfica coach has taken the opportunity to rest regular starters Almeida, Samaris, Guedes, Gaitán and Jonas. Nélson Semedo is unavailable due to the right knee injury that he sustained on international duty with Portugal. Goalkeeper Ederson is ruled out with gastroenteritis.
There are rare call-ups for forgotten men Filip Djuricic and Bryan Cristante, while the Moroccan duo of Medhi Carcela and Adel Taarabt are also included. Youngsters Victor Lindelöf, João Teixeira, Nuno Santos and Victor Andrade will all travel with the squad, and will be looking to gain some valuable first-team experience.
Goalkeepers: Júlio César and Paulo Lopes.
Defenders: Luisão, Lisandro Lopez, Lindelof, Eliseu, Sílvio and Jardel.
Midfielders: Fejsa, João Teixeira, Pizzi, Djuricic, Talisca, Cristante, Carcela, Nuno Santos, Victor Andrade and Taarabt.
Forwards: Mitroglou and Raúl.
