Vitória attacks refereeing decisions

Following Benfica’s Portuguese Cup defeat to Sporting – their third consecutive loss against their bitter rivals – head coach Rui Vitória argued that refereeing blunders had cost his side the game.

“I will start at the end and say that there was a stone-wall penalty. I have to react, because in three games with Sporting we’ve had three big penalty shouts and none given.  This has to stop!”

Benfica - Vianense post match quotes

Benfica managed a last minute win against Vianense in the 3rd round of the Taça, with the goals coming from Carcela and Jardel. Rui Vitória spoke to the media after the game, highlighting the positives and negatives of the play.

"First of all, there is satisfaction to have won. We found some difficulties with the game, mainly because Vianense had a wonderful goal, with one of two shots on goal. That is why the Taça is beautiful and so interesting. We had several chances and we should have finished the game earlier. We were not realizing the opportunities that we were creating and we were giving oxygen to the opponent who was surviving. I give congratulations to Vianense, who fought well and made it difficult for us. We won and there was justice because we were the team that created more and so we deserved and had to win," Vitória began by saying.
