Benfica target Serbian winger Andrija Zivkovic

Benfica have apparently raised their interest in Serbian u-20 World Cup winner Andrija Zivkovic.

Zivkovic has been a target since December 2013 according to Sportmediaset where he was quoted saying "it is obvious that I'd like to go to Benfica."

Back then Benfica boasted Lazar Markovic and Nemanja Matic in their line-up which would have drawn the youngster to joining the «encarnados». However, compatriots Fesja and  Djuricic are still in Benfica's books and could lure the much wanted Zivkovic to the Luz.

Benito joins Sulejmani in BSC Young Boys

Twenty-three year old left-back Loris Benito has made a permanent move to Swiss Super League runners-up BSC Young Boys.

The Switzerland under-21 international returns to his home country after signing an undisclosed 4-year deal. Benito, who made just a handful of appearances for the senior and B team this season, follows Benfica teammate Miralem Sulejmani who was confirmed in the same club on 9th June.

Loris Benito stated that he was looking forward to the new challenge.

Taraabt leaves QPR and joins Benfica on a 5 year deal

Adel Taraabt was formally presented as a S.L. Benfica player the 12th of June, transferred from demoted QPR on a free. He signed a 5 year contract. The talented 26 year old Moroccan is at a career crossroads and this new opportunity could place him in the European spotlight again. Often described as a wasted talent with a lazy and characterial personality, manager Rui Vitória will have to inject the right dose of discipline and motivation to get him back to the top of his abilities.

Markovic set for a Benfica comeback?

Rumours are growing stronger that Markovic could be shipped back to Benfica in a one year loan deal. The talented 21 year old who was signed by Liverpool in the beginning of 2014-2015 for a 20 million fee has failed to impose himself in Anfield, making only 34 appearances (of which 23 in the starting line-up) in all competitions and scoring 3 goals.

Mehdi Carcela en route to Benfica

Benfica are pressing ahead to sign Moroccan midfielder Mehdi Carcela-González from Belgian side Standard Liege.

The Liege born player was spotted arriving at the Lisbon International Airport this afternoon and he confirmed he was on his way to speak to new manager Rui Vitória.

"I am very happy, I know Benfica well and I've also heard of Rui Vitória. This is the biggest challenge of my career."

It is thought the 25 year old will cost Benfica around €3 to €4 million.

BSC Young Boys take Sulejmani to Swiss League

Miralen Sulejmani has signed a 3-year deal with Swiss Super League side BSC Young Boys.

The Serbian winger arrived in Lisbon in 2013 on a free from Dutch side Ajax, and has lifted two Portuguese League titles, two League Cups and a Portuguese Cup in his short stay with Benfica.

The 26 year old found himself down in the pecking order behind Salvio and Ola John. His injury in the Europa League final against Sevilla didn't do him justice and the skills he possessed to bring a game to life.

Lindelöf signs a new 5-year deal

Victor Lindelöf has signed a professional contract with SL Benfica for a further 5 seasons until 2020.

The Swedish defender joined Benfica as a youth player in 2012/13 and apart from making countless of appearances for the B or lower sides, he has featured in first team football three times, twice in the Portuguese cup and once in the league against Porto away.

"I feel very proud to have this opportunity. I am happy to have signed a new deal because Benfica is a huge club."

Everyone seems to like us, every day I receive messages to wish us luck, and we greatly appreciate all the love they have given us since we arrived. I want to stay here one, two, three or even 10 years. We are happy here."

Salvio suffers setback

Benfica announced via their official website that Salvio suffered ligament injuries to his right knee against Marítimo last weekend and might be subject to surgery.

The 24-year-old Argentine winger has been highly coveted with a move away from the Portuguese capital in this summer transfer window, but the latest injury, has cast shadow over his immediate future.
