Bilal Ould-Chikh confirmed as a Benfica player

Sport Lisboa e Benfica have reached a deal to sign Bilal Ould-Chikh from FC Twente.

The youngster, who just turned 18 two days ago, arrived in Lisbon today and is eager to learn and grow at Benfica.

Speaking to BTV, the Dutch u-19 international had only positives to say about the club.

"I know that Benfica is a huge team with great players, champions of Portugal, and regularly play in the Champions League."

"It's a dream come true for a youngster like me to play in this stadium. I'm here to learn with experienced players that have technical quality."

Lima continues career at Al-Ahli

Benfica striker Rodrigo Lima will represent the United Arab Emirates club for the next 2 seasons.

The Brazilian was a back-to-back champion for Benfica and has decided to earn his last big contract in the middle east for Al-Ahli in Dubai.

Benfica dismiss transfer rumours

Malaga CF midfielder Fernando Tissone is pointed towards Benfica by Italian media, however, the Lisbon side have dismissed the rumour and confirmed they are not pursuing the player.

The rumour was generated without any fundamental sources and quoted by the Portuguese press without questioning its validity.

Four players confirmed out on loan

Benfica have confirmed that defender Sidnei has extended his loan with Deportivo de Coruña and will continue in the La Liga side. The Brazilian has been on Benfica's books since 2008 making over 45 league appearances, but has been deemed surplus to requirements on many occasions, featuring in Espanyol and Besiktas in loan moves too.

Derley, who signed from Marítimo last season, has also been confirmed with a loan move to Turkish side Kayeserispor for a season, accompanied by colleague Diego Lopes who returned to Benfica after 2 seasons with Rio Ave.

Gaitán further away from Atlético Madrid

Nico Gaitán is the subject of much speculation in European football as Benfica look to continue their traditional selling spree of important players every summer to balance the books.

The Argentine seems to be the next target by both club and European powerhouses.

A Portuguese paper A Bola report that a deal with Madrid side Atlético is far from complete and perhaps further away than it has been after Benfica rejected to negotiate below the transfer release clause, fixed at €35m.

Benfica target Serbian winger Andrija Zivkovic


Benfica have apparently raised their interest in Serbian u-20 World Cup winner Andrija Zivkovic.

Zivkovic has been a target since December 2013 according to Sportmediaset where he was quoted saying "it is obvious that I'd like to go to Benfica."

Back then Benfica boasted Lazar Markovic and Nemanja Matic in their line-up which would have drawn the youngster to joining the «encarnados». However, compatriots Fesja and  Djuricic are still in Benfica's books and could lure the much wanted Zivkovic to the Luz.

Benito joins Sulejmani in BSC Young Boys

Twenty-three year old left-back Loris Benito has made a permanent move to Swiss Super League runners-up BSC Young Boys. 

The Switzerland under-21 international returns to his home country after signing an undisclosed 4-year deal. Benito, who made just a handful of appearances for the senior and B team this season, follows Benfica teammate Miralem Sulejmani who was confirmed in the same club on 9th June.

Loris Benito stated that he was looking forward to the new challenge. 

Taraabt leaves QPR and joins Benfica on a 5 year deal

Adel Taraabt was formally presented as a S.L. Benfica player the 12th of June, transferred from demoted QPR on a free. He signed a 5 year contract. The talented 26 year old Moroccan is at a career crossroads and this new opportunity could place him in the European spotlight again. Often described as a wasted talent with a lazy and characterial personality, manager Rui Vitória will have to inject the right dose of discipline and motivation to get him back to the top of his abilities.

Markovic set for a Benfica comeback?

Rumours are growing stronger that Markovic could be shipped back to Benfica in a one year loan deal. The talented 21 year old who was signed by Liverpool in the beginning of 2014-2015 for a 20 million fee has failed to impose himself in Anfield, making only 34 appearances (of which 23 in the starting line-up) in all competitions and scoring 3 goals.

Mehdi Carcela en route to Benfica

Benfica are pressing ahead to sign Moroccan midfielder Mehdi Carcela-González from Belgian side Standard Liege.

The Liege born player was spotted arriving at the Lisbon International Airport this afternoon and he confirmed he was on his way to speak to new manager Rui Vitória.

"I am very happy, I know Benfica well and I've also heard of Rui Vitória. This is the biggest challenge of my career."

It is thought the 25 year old will cost Benfica around €3 to €4 million.
