| Giants in Carlsberg Cup semis - 19 January 2009 |
Benfica, Sporting and Porto are all through to this year's semi finals of the Carlsberg Cup as group winners. V. Guimarães, who lost the first game against Benfica, were the best second placed team from the three groups, beating Nacional, Académica and Belenenses with the same points.
Sporting and Benfica have been placed in Pot A because of a better record in the year's competition than their league counterparts. It means there is a possibility for the Lisbon side to face rivals Porto or V. Guimarães in the semi final.
Pot A: Sporting and Benfica
Pot B: Porto and V. Guimarães
The draw will take place on Tuesday 20th January (12:30 GMT) at the LPFP headquarters.
The semi-finals will be played on the 4th February and the final is booked for 22nd March 2009.
