Benfica's Youth Team will go into Tuesday's match day #4 against Galatasaray with not only their heads held high (as they are first in the group) but a confident attitude as they have dominated this year's competition. Benfica have scored 21 goals in the first 3 of 6 Group stage matches in the 2015/16 UEFA Youth League competition. On match day #1 Benfica began the competition setting an all-time record defeating AS Astana 8-0. In this match Benfica managed to have 43 shots on net in which 20 of them were actually on target. Astana had no chance of coming back at half-time in which Benfica were already up 6-0. Benfica  Forward Diogo Gonçalves was man of the match producing the first hat-trick of the competition. On match day #2 Benfica traveled to Madrid to face a more evenly matched Atlético de Madrid a game in which Benfica managed to break the 1-1 tie in the 89" with a game winning goal from Diogo Gonçalves making the final score 2-1. Finally, if the excitement of goals on match day #1 was not enough, Benfica managed to break their own all time winning score line record defeating Galatasaray in Turkey 11-1. Once again Diogo Gonçalves was on the score sheet scoring his second hat - trick of the tournament. José Gomes also had a hat-trick. Benfica's other goal scorers included: João Carvalho (brace), Renato Sanches, Hildeberto Perreira, and Francisco Ferreira.

Benfica are top of their group with a 3W-0L-0D record of 9 points. They have scored 21 goals and only allowed in 2 goals which makes them the team with the best record in this year's competition so far surpassing such teams as: Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Bayern Munich. Benfica have the top goal scorers in the competition and they are Forward Diogo Gonçalves with 7 goals in 3 appearances and Forward  José Gomes with 5 goals in only 2 matches. Midfielder João Carvalho has 3 assists in the competition putting him a 3 way tie for first place. Other noteable mentions includes: 16 year old  João Filipe with 2 assists and José Gomes again also with 2 assists. Benfica's goalie André Ferreira has only allowed 2 goals in 270 minutes during this competition. Ferrira also is Benfica's main goalie for the U21 Premier League International Cup and is included in Benfica B team. Finally, who can forget coach João Tralhão who has taken this team to a Youth League Final (2013/14) and Quarter-Finals (2014/15) and has been doing great work with the Benfica Juniors.

If Benfica is victorious on match day #4 they will have 12 points which is sufficient enough to advance to the round of 16. Benfica's senior coach Rui Vitoria is frequently calling up youth players to the main squad. Just this past weekend Renato Sanches and Clésio Bauque made their Senior team debuted winning 4-0 against Tondela a team which features former UEFA Youth Benfica players Raphael Guzzo, and Romário Baldé. If the UEFA Youth League's main objective is to create a focus on youth players, then Benfica is defiantly showcasing their talent with players on loan domestically and internationally. From the 2013/14 final that Benfica team has produced such raw talents as; Rochinha (Standard Liege), Gonçalo Guedes (Benfica), Renato Sanches (Benfica) and Nuno Santos (Benfica) just to name a few.
