Benfica B player Fábio Cardoso has confirmed that he will be leaving Benfica temporarily after 9 years at the Lisbon club.

The Portuguese central defender left a message on social networks to say goodbye until the end of the season.

"It has been 9 wonderful years at this club, my BENFICA. It was here that I grew up as a player and a man, I met extraordinary people and shared unforgettable moments... I would like to thank the fans for their unconditional support... Thank you Benfica.

The 20 year old was pivotal in Benfica B's 3-2 win against Porto B last sunday, scoring twice in the second half to turn the result around and eventually give the home side a win.

Paços de Ferreira also have the first option to extend his loan for another season.

He has been a regular starter in Hélder Cristovão's side and joins former Benfica B captain Ruben Pinto in the northern Primeira Liga club.
