Benfica have travelled to the Algarve to compete in the 'Final Four' of the Taça CTT. In the competition's new format, both semi-finals will be played at the neutral Estádio Algarve this week, with the final set to follow at the same stadium on Sunday evening. If Benfica can overcome Moreirense on Thursday night, they will face either Braga or Vitória de Setúbal in the tournament's decider.
Although Moreirense are languishing in fifteenth place in the Liga NOS, Rui Vitória expects a tough test from a side that will also have their sights sets on the League Cup trophy.
"It is a game that can give access to a final and therefore we'll go with a great will and determination, because we want to get there. But we are aware that Moreirense also really want to reach this final. The teams that get here have already got through difficult groups and now that they are closer, the ambition is huge. I expect a difficult game and we have to be very strong to overthrow this Moreirense team."
"There is a trophy at stake here, but before this trophy, we have a semi-final to win. But at any moment of the season, we want to win trophies. There are no priorities, all the competitions are important."
The Eagles beat Moreirense 3-0 at the Estádio da Luz back in November, but Vitória refused to accept that Benfica are favourites for Thursday's match.
"Benfica have an enormous size and dimension but these things of favouritism don't tell me anything. Favouritism has to be demonstrated and proven on the field tomorrow."
"I have no doubts that Moreirense will grab hold of this game with great conviction and determination, and will do everything to beat us. We have to be prepared for what will occur."
Kostas Mitroglou was substituted in the 70th minute of Sunday's 4-0 win over Tondela, suffering from muscle fatigue. Benfica's coach admitted that the Greek international is a major doubt for their semi-final clash.
"Mitroglou exited the previous game with slight complaints and will not, in principle, recover for this game. Raúl is fit and will be called up. With Mitroglou we can still decide up until the moment of leaving for the Algarve."
