Benfica claimed their seventh consecutive victory with a tense 1-0 win over Feirense on Saturday night. Pizzi kept his composure to score the game's only goal from close range in the first half, but the outcome could have been very different had the home side converted one of several golden opportunities.

Benfica will be aiming to record their seventh consecutive victory in all competitions when they take on Feirense in northern Portugal tonight. The newly-promoted side had a difficult start to the season, losing nine of their first fourteen league fixtures. However, their form has markedly improved under new coach Nuno Manta Santos; they have tasted defeat just twice in their last nine league games, and risen to 13th place in the Liga NOS.

Squad List: Feirense x Benfica

Rui Vitória has made two changes to his squad for the trip to Feirense this Saturday. Pedro Pereira replaces the suspended Nélson Semedo, while André Horta comes in for the injured Filipe Augusto, who sprained his right ankle on his full debut against Estoril.

Álex Grimaldo (abdomen) and Ljubomir Fejsa (left ankle) also appear on the official injury list. Lisandro López has been overlooked once again.

Saturday's match at the Estádio Marcolino de Castro kicks off at 20:30 local time.

Jonas commits to Benfica until 2019

Jonas has put pen-to-paper on a new contract with Benfica. The 32-year old forward had been committed to the Eagles until summer 2018, but he has now agreed a one-year contract extension, which will keep him at the club beyond his 35th birthday. He is now rumoured to be the highest paid player in the squad.

Vitória denies Jonas injury setback after cup triumph

Benfica took a massive step towards qualification for the Portuguese cup final by defeating Estoril 2-1 at the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota on Tuesday night. Kostas Mitroglou opened the scoring in the 36th minute when he pounced on Andrija Živković’s inviting cross. The home side took just five minutes to hit back, with ex-Porto striker Kléber converting his penalty after Eliseu had handled in the box. Mitroglou continued his incredible goalscoring form to net the winner in the 90th minute, although he looked to be offside from Franco Cervi’s cross.

Benfica make the short trip to the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota on Tuesday night for the first leg of their Portuguese cup semi-final with Estoril. The Canaries’ Spanish coach Pedro Gómez Carmona was appointed in December, and has now been at the helm for 12 matches. His first eight games yielded six defeats, but Rui Vitória has seen signs of improvement in recent weeks.

Rui Vitória has made just one change to his squad ahead of Tuesday night's Portuguese cup clash with Estoril. Luka Jović has been dropped, while January signing Marcelo Hermes has been included to provide another option at left-back.

Álex Grimaldo (abdomen) and Ljubomir Fejsa (ankle) are still sidelined, while André Horta and Lisandro López have been overlooked once again. Jonas is set to make his 100th appearance for the Eagles.
